Today is the day when child care centres large and small across Kamloops will withdraw services for the day. Whether it's the right thing to do or not, people are going to have to take notice of the fact that daycare providers are desperate for change. Not the kind of change that Betty Hinton and Stephen Harper have given them -- calling it "giving parents a choice" when $100 per month (taxable) gives struggling families no choice at all.

Child tax credit is a joke unto itself. How kind of the government to toss a few pennies to families every year.Were supposed to grovel at their feet with gratitude. Why not keep the CTC and stop taxing the snot out of people with kids in the first place.Apparently these mental midgets in politics cant do math.As kids get older they cost more but as kids get older CTC is reduced and you lose the pitiful 100$,then youre taxed on it on top of that,what kind of crap is that. I will try to be a little more 'tolerant' and (hopefully) stay on one or two topics.
Okay, first thing is regarding the developing Daycare Protest (as I type this). No, I will not be there. Several reasons. I am a single father with full-time custody of my son. He is under the age of 3 and I wish to spend as much time as possible with him, especially during these first few 'precious' years.
I am 'off work' right now also because I cannot secure (any type of) childcare/daycare. I/we will not be at the Ralley because it is too 'distant' from our day to day routines and it will likely not be in our own best of interest. Why?
Well of course I support the aims and initiatives of our own local Kamloops daycare facilities and staff. However, the primary concern (from my own experiences) is NOT the fact that (such and such) funding has been 'rescinded', but the fact that there are too few available spaces and THE VAST MAJORITY OF THOSE GO TO THE DIKs of this city, (dual income - kids), while the SIK's, (single-income - kids) are placed at the BOTTOM OF ANY WAIT-LISTS. You can try to prove me wrong but I have been waiting 15 months so far and will absolutely have to go back to work by early May. Then what?? Before (minister) Richmond began his 'vendetta' against single parents with kid(s), most parents could (choose to) remain at home with children under 6 (as necessary).
A family consisting of BOTH parents working away from home, and 'netting' over $50. thousand per year can either afford to PAY for their own childcare, HIRE a nanny, etc. to come into their home, OR (better yet) have ONE PARENT do the responsible thing by staying at home with kid(s) at LEAST until youngest is into kindergarten. Then this (loving parent) can resume (his or her) 'precious career'. That allows plenty of potential 'working years' to plan for future investing, etc. It worked in the sixties through the eighties and it can definitely work today.
Anyone who disagrees with my 'logic' has the right to do so but the fact remains that Daycare is being 'swallowed-up' by the 'affluent' while the 'needy' are being IGNORED. If you truly LOVE YOUR CHILDREN, you will personally CHOOSE TO STAY AT HOME WITH THEM, as long as it is financially 'feasable' of course.
I personally know of families with very young kids and both parents work full time and (combined) they 'gross' over six figures. They may call it 'planning ahead' or 'providing for their children' but I call it nothing more than GREED! Perhaps these are the parents most affected by today's Daycare Protest and isn't THAT ironic - and unfortunate.

The subject of same sex marriage would require far too much writting.I wont even get started on the subject of the gays going through the curiculum to make sure there is no "homophobia".I will say that if my kids are forced to participate in gay studies of any kind I will be pulling them out.Schools cant figure out why student enrolement is dropping,well it doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out why.When people with an agenda start stepping on parents toes AND violate our rights a parents to teach them how we see fit,there is a problem and we arent going to roll over and accept it..meanwhile gays are free to bash fat people and its okay.Just a tad hypocritical.
