On CBC Radio One's All Points West Thursday afternoon, MP Betty Hinton accused this blog of "misquoting" her. If that indeed occurred, it is the responsibility of the media outlets on whose reports our commentary has been based. At no time have we falsely attributed a quote to Betty Hinton or altered a quote in a way that changes its meaning. If anyone can find evidence to the contrary, we urge them to contact us by email immediately.
Also on the radio program, Kamloops city councillor Arjun Singh said he understands why bloggers would want to remain anonymous to avoid retribution, but only in countries like "Saudi Arabia or China." We see Mr. Singh's point of view; however, we submit that the same applies to people who work with co-workers (or for employers) who are prominent Conservatives. As long as we continue to refrain from making false or libelous statements, we reserve our right to remain anonymous.

As far as I can tell, Betty Hinton's only sin was not giving the press her cellphone number, which riled them up lot.
She never campaigned on airport funding but after the election promised to work hard for it.
She did campaign on a billion dollars fund to help communities diversify their economy after pine beetle and that money is there. Lake's quest for private property tree removal funds has nothing to do with that.
What you dont hear is constituents complaining that she hasnt been helping them, or all the good work she has been doing for veterans, and her tireless work for oppressed and abused women around the world.
I wouldnt use the word "misquote", I'd use the words "baseless persecution"
It's interesting that the majority of the comments on this website are from Anonymous contributors ... both supporting and opposing the articles.
This makes it clear that most people have an opinion that they feel is worth sharing, and yet they are not willing to attach their name to it. Anonymity doesn't make the article less factual, and it doesn't make the opinion any less important to the person who posted it.
Personally I find the articles to be interesting and informative, and the comments make it clear that there are at least a few people who are noticing and discussing issues that may help us to elect an effective MP in the future.
I agree. Its nice to get a free flow of information not filtered through the media but it would be even better if this was called "Kamloops Politics Blog" rather "Hinton Out"...then a lot more people would join in.

Again we see politicians bashing each other, instead of collectively putting their heads together to addresss issues which in the end affect everyone of us regardless of political affiliation. It's time all people wake up and demand accountability from all politicians whether they are in power or not. The mudslinging and bashing game has been going on far to long in politics and it is up to the people (thats you & me) to demand change. Maybe its time to contract out government if these people are not doing what we tell them.
I really enjoy what I see from Arjun Singh as of late. I laugh when it comes to him catching heat from the Federation of Labour, at least someone cares about my tax dollars.
That's why I'm not in any hurry to blame Betty for not making the Feds ante up and remove trees off private land. Is it fair to penalize the entire nation because someone has to remove trees off private property? Does that tree pose a threat similar to a flash flood / inferno?
No. So maybe the civic politicians should focus on their core purpose: which is infrastructure, and other municipal matters. Maybe the civic politicians should find salvage loggers, or set up a place for people to drop off / pick up beetle enhanced wood.

Way to go Kamllops needs more of this .I suggest a report card on our spend and tax city council .Bettys totally useless has done nothing for this riding .Yes she got some money for vets .But theres far more pressing issues these day .If you think she done fine work i challange you to point to one thing in our community that she's responsible for .Good luck with that

I agree, we need a forum to opine freely and anonymously on all elected officials...but it would be better to have one that didnt start off for or against any person in particular. These blogs are very civil and interesting.

Mabe because we dont want to be sued by the government.Apparently free speech isnt allowed anymore.Hence the councillor and the two gay guys.Before he was fined the gay guys should have been asked if thay had ever made slanderous,discrimatory and derogatory remarks about fat people.You can better bet they have...its okay to do that to fat people but not gays...thats discrimination unto itself.
