KTW picks up on copyright infringement

The local news media has finally gotten around to covering the story of David Wise, the photographer, see post below, who had his photograph of Kamloops used without permission by Betty Hinton's office. Wise, whose photos have been bought by groups including Venture Kamloops and Harvard U., is asking for "up to $2000", the cost Hinton's office would have had to pay to legitimately use the picture.
Wise is clear he will sue if he is not paid, which is his right. The photograph license was clearly posted and will obviously be accepted in court if he sues.

Being the cynic I am could someone please answer some questions? Is this guy Wise related to one of MP Hinton's former staffers? And, is this the first instance the photo has been used? If the photo has been used before, by whom and what was the price charged? This story was on life support a week ago when it wasn't news either. Get the crash cart charged up.

The Trade, Investment and Labour Mobility Agreement (TILMA) between the
British Columbia and Alberta governments comes into effect on April 1,
2007.

Never heard of TILMA? Most British Columbians haven't. We weren't asked
about it and we weren't told about it until it was a done deal.
TILMA is a far ranging agreement that will have profound effects on our
jobs and our communities.

It allows investors or businesses to challenge legislation, regulations
or bylaws enacted by democratically elected provincial, municipal and
regional governments. It strips power from municipalities, school
boards, publicly-funded academic, health and social service bodies. It
transfers power to investors and businesses who decide a regulation
hinders their ability to make money.
There needs to be full public debate and consultation before anything so
sweeping is adopted.

Beginning Friday, March 30, citizens in communities across BC will visit
their MLAs and demand that the BC government withdraw from TILMA.

Actions are planned in: Coquitlam, Sunshine Coast, Powell River,
Vancouver (3 ridings), Courtenay, Comox, Kamloops, Campbell River,
Kelowna, New Westminster, Surrey, Cowichan and Victoria.

For more information contact Carleen Pickard at the Council of Canadians
(604) 340-2455 or (604) 688-8846.

DONT BUY FISH OF ANY KIND FROM CANADA

The seal hunt is about money, nothing more. The fishermen on the east coast are needlessly over fishing. The fishermen are driving the fish to extinction not the seals.
