Betty & Gary

Mel Rothenburger's editorial in the Daily News today suggests some interesting things about Betty Hinton and her party. The editor describes his interview with minister of natural resources Gary Lunn who was visiting Kamloops this week.
"... we asked him whatever became of the City's $1.3 million application for pine beetle funding five or six months ago, the one that seemed so urgent at the time. The one MP Betty Hinton said she needed within a few days so she could take it to the minister. It was he said, a miscommunication. There was no fund to draw from, nothing to apply for, and therefore the application didn't technically exist." (bold added)

So, either the government isn't competent enough to know what does and doesn't exist, or Betty Hinton just made something up.

I suppose it's foolish to ask where Mel was as the bug train wreck was careening toward us for the six years of his watch.

Having seen PG decimated along with the entire central interior, do you suppose the future mitigation of the bug kill trees was a budget contingency item as we were being shaken down for our outrageously expensive water plant and field house and related projects?

Our faux entrepeneurial city bureaucrats could have been focusing on say 10% departmental budget reductions with the savings set aside for residential tree removal for the past seven years. Instead they have been whining about how underpaid they were and spending like drunk sailors. Of course the city bureaucrats can only recommend, our council has has voted YES to every lame ass idea and spending request and is equally culpable.

When our city goes knocking on federal or provincial doors looking for "welfare" they would do well to leave their Mercedes hidden from view. From a home owner's point of view, I'd look silly begging for cash for a new roof on my house because I was broke from buying a wide screen TV and new furniture.

The constant attempt to assassinate the MP by pointing to irrelevant little "slips" simply reflects the desperation of the Liberals. Here's a more serious thing they should worry about:

If Dion decided not to run a Liberal against Green Party candidate May, because the future of our planet is at stake (KTW Ap 15th), then why doesnt he really try to save the country and run no Liberal candidates?

I am not making this stuff up.

Hey, Mr Cheeseman, answer this question from Ms May of the Green Pary:

"What the hell is wrong with Jack Layton that he can't answer a phone call?" she said on CTV's Question Period.

"I don't understand this. He talks to Stephen Harper all the time. Surely, our shared values are much closer between the NDP and the Greens"

shared values = power at any cost

the liberal minister for gateway has publicly stated there was no money for the kamloops airport...but the truth was never a problem for this town where the media and liberals rule like a tyrannical southern Sherriff in the good ole USA

Funny how the pine beetle has become a priority for Mel, now that they are eating the trees in his backyard in Barnhartvale.

Lets capitalize on the situation:

Lets rebrand our city as "The Pine Beetle Capital". We could have a Miss Pine Beetle crowned each year.

Lets have Pine Beetle Pride week proclaimed. We could have pine beetle recipes and cook offs and erect a giant pine beetle statute made of pine on the outskirts of town.
